Identities: National Poetry Month, Day 11

It’s impossible to go to a Writers’ Conference & not talk about the big I. Every decade is marked by the writerly (outward) look (appearance). This year it seems to be ginormously long beards & curled moustaches & dramatic lace tights and puffed up hair. Being at AWP means knowing the writers when you see them, especially far away from the Convention Centers. The writerly look is an Identity & while we don’t much talk about it in social media spaces, outside of a snide comments here or there, it is ever present.

Some of us don’t wear the Writerly Garb. Those are the ones I seek out. Like Trace Peterson who exudes Glamour.

Here is a poem by her. Check it out.
